  • Does TVA OIG pay based on the federal general schedule?

    No, TVA OIG does not pay based on the general schedule. Annual benchmarking is completed to ensure that there is alignment between TVA OIG salaries and the overall job market. This helps keep our salaries competitive, and promotes equity and fairness.

  • Does TVA OIG grant federal service credit?

    Yes, provided there is no break in service, TVA OIG will grant federal service credit to new hires that transfer directly from another federal agency. We will review other prior federal service to determine if it qualifies toward your federal service date for your leave accrual.

  • Does TVA OIG participate in the federal benefit or retirement plans?

    Qualifying military service may impact your federal service time for leave accrual purposes. We will review the service time, and if applicable, your service date will be updated to give you service credit for leave accrual purposes.

  • Does TVA OIG participate in the federal benefit or retirement plans?

    TVA OIG participates in the benefit and retirement plans available to all TVA employees. One exception is federal employees’ group life insurance (FEGLI) which can be purchased at the time of hire or transfer. Additionally, if you are a federal transfer, you would stay in your federal retirement program, and will no longer retain FEHB coverage.

  • Does TVA have any influence over hiring or pay decisions in the OIG?

    No, independence is one of our core values and behaviors. It is important that the OIG performs its work and reports results free from outside influence or conflict of interest. For this reason, all hiring and pay decisions are made internally, within the OIG.

  • How long will the screening and interviewing process take?

    This varies, as each position has unique screening requirements. We strive to provide a status update within 2 weeks after submitting an application and are committed to providing updates as soon as possible at various points throughout the screening process. On average, our cycle time from position posting to new hire start date is approximately 90 days.

    The majority of TVA OIG employees work in our Audits and Evaluations department as an Auditor, or in our Investigations department as a Special Agent.   • How many office locations does TVA OIG have?

    TVA OIG has employees in four offices: Knoxville, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Nashville, TN; and Huntsville, AL. The majority of our employees work in either Knoxville or Chattanooga.
